Break

Posted: 14th December 2009 by Gavin Dudeney in General

This blog will be taking a break for a little while, I think – at least over Christmas and the New Year. In many ways it’s served its purpose this year in reaching out to a wide range of people and hearing their experiences and attitudes to technology: an area I’m hugely interested in, and one I hope to be writing and presenting about next year. I wanted to thank everyone who has contributed to it over the last twelve months and wish you all a very happy end of 2009 / beginning of 2010. Hope to catch up with a lot of you at conferences this coming year!

  1. Have a super holiday, Gavin.

Thanks for all the laughs you’ve given me over the year – the OMGs did he really write that??? (you’re awfully brave you know)… thanks for the tips – for making us think and be challenged into how we really feel about x or y and is there a z?

Thanks for spreading the word on technology and using it in the classroom. Thanks for breaking down walls that were up against it.

Thanks for getting me to join Twitter.

Thanks for helping out whenever I’ve had a techie problem…

…and you know I can’t wait to attend another conference with you presenting (especially given the # of SMiELTs you received…)

    Take care, dude

    Enjoy the break, Gavin!

Just want to join with Karenne and say thank you for adding so much to my online experience – for your helpful, useful and the genuinely laugh out loud tweets and for the interesting and entertaining blog posts.

    All the best,
    Carol

    Gavin,

Write something….delete it…write something….delete it….write something…delete it… I did that on about twenty different occasions this week. I just did it on this blog but decided I really needed to thank you.

    Delete…write….delete…write….delete…write….delete

    Well there you have it.

Your dark humor has provided me perspective on this world I’m so new to and many smiles. Your sage advice has encouraged me to be careful but reminds me of creativity. Your voice has shone through in moments I was confused about write….delete…write…delete

I have spent many hours in my car listening to Frank Black and Belle and write….delete…write…delete…write…delete

THANK YOU! Next time I will not censor myself!

  4. Yes, thank YOU Gavin and do enjoy the much needed and well-deserved break :-) One special request though….please, please don’t start the New Year blog off with the usual torturous photos from WOW! places that you get to visit in these breaks or on your globe-trotting ICT adventuress ;-)
    Thank you!

  6. Have a good break, Gavin. No hard feelings. See you in Harrogate if not before.

  7. Folks,

Thanks for your comments here, and the flurry of emails – fear not, there’s a lot more to say, I’m just going to wait until all the excited shouting has died down and there’s some space to be heard again.

@Karenne – you have my email if there are any technical problems

@Carol – I’ll see you and the others in Second Life

@Sugarjo – Stop all this re-write, delete and spit it out woman!

    @Vale – can’t promise anything on the photo front…

@Scott – sure, no hard feelings and I’m sure we’ll see each other in Harrogate. I notice your twitstream has been expunged of the ‘love me or shove off’ tweets and in the last two days you’ve been ‘tweaking the nose of the emergent medium’ (or whatever it was) a little less. I’m sure the lost followers will soon return and I’m glad our little spat is over. Alas all I learnt was that I’m really too old-school to play the ‘no, over here!’ game all day. Hence my desire to take a break – when it ends up looking like my PLN of over 1,400 people is made up entirely of approximately three people blogging (due to their volume of noise), then it is time to sit back and wait out the storm.

    Enjoy!

    Gavin

Gavin all I can say is that I will miss your voice. But we all need to take a break sometimes, and as such a busy and productive person, you more than anyone. So enjoy that time. I will still keep in touch by ‘e’ and other means though. Bon voyage on all your travels – those places will be richer from a visit by you. I will await your return with anticipation XXX
